Anxiety can feel overwhelming, but as believers, we have a powerful resource to combat those fears: God’s Word. The Bible offers comfort and guidance for navigating the storms of life, and when we turn to scripture, we can find peace in knowing God is with us.
Here are some Bible verses you can pray when anxiety strikes and how they can ease your fears and bring you peace.
Philippians 4:6-7
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
The Lord commands us to not worry about anything. We are his children and he is our father. His work is to provide not the other way round. God wants to know everything that we go through. Nothing is above God’s concern. Our prayers are not answered because we do not ask God. He already knows our request but he still waits for us to ask Him. We should also be thankful for anything so as to avoid a complaining spirit. Only when we talk to God in prayer will we experience his peace. Peace that surpasses all understanding.
Prayer: Father, I bring my anxieties and worries to You. Help me release every fear and trust in Your perfect plan. I ask for Your peace to fill my heart and guard my mind.
Isaiah 41:10
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
This statement is bot a command and a promise. When God who is full of power and glory tells us not to fear, we must take that seriously. We may feel alone and discouraged but the Lord promises that he is with us. His love for us makes Him promise to uphold us. As we know God is not a human being that he should lie to us.
Prayer: Lord, I feel overwhelmed, but I know You are with me. Strengthen me in my weakness and hold me up with Your righteous hand. I trust in Your presence and power.
1 Peter 5:7
“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.”
In matthew 6:31-34 God has promised to take care of everything, so we do not have to do it on our own. The pressures of life can overburden us and thus we need to put them at Jesus feet. Casting our anxieties on the Lord can be done by prayer and faith. Through prayer we tell God what worries us and by faith we believe that he will do it.
When a child of God is full of worry and fear, doesn’t the world have reason to believe that their Father in heaven doesn’t care for them? Our worry and fear reflects poorly — and unfairly — upon God. (David Guzik-BLB)
Prayer: “Jesus, I give You my worries and fears. Thank You for caring for me so deeply. Help me to trust that You are in control and will carry me through this.”

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
Anxiety oftens comes from worrying about what’s to come. We have no control over things to come and thus waste ourselves with fear. It is important to live for now, in the present. It is not wrong to plan for the future or reminse of the past. But when we are two consumed with both we tend to forget living in the present. Trust God with tomorrow.
Prayer: “Lord, help me to live in the present and trust You with my future. Take away my worry about tomorrow and remind me that You are in control of all things.”

When we walk in our purpose, we are safe in His hands. We dont accept fear that God did not give us but we humbly accept and walk in what He has given, a spirit of power, love and sound mind.
Prayer: Lord, fill me with Your Spirit of power and love. Help me walk in strength and courage, knowing that fear has no place in my heart because of Your Spirit within me.
